The year was 1950. It was in this year, way back when, that a small group of northern Victorian dairy farmers decided to become pioneer dairy processors. These dairy farmers would send their milk off to a private dairy company, wher someone else would decide what to do with it and take the profits.

Havin decided that they wanted a fair price for the milk they loved to produce, they called a meeting in Katunga to assess their fellow dairy farmers' interest in a new co-operative dairy factory. The farmers received overwhelming support, and an interim committee was formed. They put their heads (and herds) together, and formed a co-operative that is the heart and soul of the Devondale we’ve come to know and love.
