Introduce

The year was 1950. It was in this year, way back when, that a small group of northern Victorian dairy farmers decided to become pioneer dairy processors. These dairy farmers would send their milk off to a private dairy company, wher someone else would decide what to do with it and take the profits.

Havin decided that they wanted a fair price for the milk they loved to produce, they called a meeting in Katunga to assess their fellow dairy farmers' interest in a new co-operative dairy factory. The farmers received overwhelming support, and an interim committee was formed. They put their heads (and herds) together, and formed a co-operative that is the heart and soul of the Devondale we’ve come to know and love.

Our co-op has had its fair share of ups and downs over the past 60 years, but together we’ve come through stronger than ever. The dedication and hard work has shaped the Devondale co-op into the world-class supplier of dairy foods that we see today. We’re proud of the achievements and lasting partnerships formed with our customers in Australia and worldwide.

As the leaders in many areas, we combine passion with technology to create innovative dairy foods for everyone to enjoy. Our co-op continues to be a very important part of the Australian dairy industry, processing about 1/3 of the nation’s milk supply.

Today there are approximately 2500 dairy farmers in the co-op across South-Eastern Australia. Not a bad feat from the small group of farmers from back in the day. Our dairy farmers are outstanding contributors to the Australian economy and provide food for Australians and millions of people around the world.

Our Devondale products are, and have always been, made by the co-op which is wholly and entirely controlled by Australian farming families.
